‘Halfway House’ : Blac Chyna to star in Lake Charles production

On Friday, for one night only,  Angela “Blac Chyna” White, model and reality show star will be in Lake Charles playing the lead role in “Halfway House,” sans fillers and looking better than ever.

The IMOC (I’m only in competition with myself) Production begins at 8 p.m. at the Lake Charles Event Center’s Rosa Hart Theatre. White will be available for a Meet and Greet at 9:30 p.m. for those who purchase separate, additional tickets to do so. Enjoy a pre-show at 7:30 p.m. with comedian Hot Topic.

This is White’s first stage performance.

“She was living a life on the dark side and has changed for the positive to walk the straight and narrow,” said Aldrema Conerly Williams, also known as writer and producer Drema Dream.

That, in a way, is what the play explores, a reexamination of purpose.

Williams also explained that this halfway house is not a place that helps people transition from incarnation, drugs or alcohol back into society. This setting is a halfway heavenly house, where souls transition from life to where they will spend eternity. The cast also includes fallen angels and a public defender who will determine their outcome.

“It won’t end for all as some might guess,” Williams said. “There’s a scripture that says, ‘there’s a way that seems right to a man but it leads to death. Come to this show and you’ll see a few characters who think their way is the right way.”

The story line is humorous, sad, compelling and likely to cause a little soul searching. Williams said lines came to her in the early morning hours. Finally she organized the thoughts, which are the basis of the play.

Williams is originally from Bogalusa, Louisiana. Her wife, Trevalyn Parker is originally from Lake Charles. They live in Dallas.
