Back-to-school supply giveaways planned across SW La.

The following are a list of Back to School supply giveaways for Southwest Louisiana:

Back to School supply giveaway

OBERLIN – A Back to School supply giveaway will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, Oberlin Farmer’s Mark, 228 W. Sixth Ave., Oberlin.

Free school supplies and backpacks are limited to one per child. The child must be present.

There will also be free food, vendors, giveaways and more.

Sponsored by the Southwest Louisiana Center for Health Services and Aetna.

Back to School Movie Night

JENNINGS – A Back to School Movie Night and school supply giveaway will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 at Founders Park, Main Street.

Children will have the opportunity to enjoy the Minion movie and pick up school supplies, if needed. There will also be pizza, popcorn, snacks and more.

Drive-thru backpack giveaway

WELSH – A drive-thru backpack giveaway will held 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8 at thWelsh Community Center, 101 Palmer Street.

Each child will receive a free backpack and snack pack which includes a hot dog, chips and drink while supplies last. Limit two free backpacks per car. Children need to be present to receive the backpacks and snack packs.

Back to School Kickoff and Health Fair 

ELTON – A Community Back to School Kickoff and Health Fair will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 12 in the Elton High School gym, 903 Second Street.

There will be physicals for middle and high school athletes, student haircuts, school supplies, nutritional tips, mental health information, tips on ATV safety and more. There will also be diabetes and blood pressure checks, vaccinations and a blood bank.

Other activities include face painting, photo booth, bingo and games, music, door prizes and food and drinks.

The event is sponsored by the Purple Butterfly Foundation, Wesley Lloyd Livingston Jr and Investment Club.
