Two teenagers charged in robbery in which female was shot

Lake Charles police have arrested two teenagers in a May armed robbery in which a woman was shot after she refused to give them her belongings.

Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum said a man and woman were walking near the intersection of Enterprise Boulevard and Alamo Street just before 11 p.m. May 28 when a group of juveniles approached them.

“Two males in the group produced weapons and demanded the victim’s belongings,” Kirkum said. “When the victims did not comply, a shot was fired, striking the female. The two armed suspects then fled with the victims belongings.”

Kirkum said the man who was walking with the woman fired back at the suspects, striking one.

Both the female victim and the suspect who was shot have recovered from their injuries, he said.

A 15-year-old male juvenile was arrested on Tuesday, June 18, and is charged with armed robbery, armed robbery with a firearm, aggravated second-degree battery and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

He has been booked into the Juvenile Detention Center with no bond.
