Libraries present ‘Build Better World’
The Allen Parish Library summer reading program will run through June and July. This year’s theme is “Build A Better World.”
Children should register to earn a certificate of completion. Registration is not required to attend the programs.
The program will kick off 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, June 3, with festivities at the Oberlin Library. There will be games, storytelling by T-Tante, live music featuring the Sonnier Cajun Band and DJ Fuse and vendors.
Free red beans and rice and drinks will be served.
On Tuesday, June 6, the libraries will host Animal Tales, an educational program about animals and their habitats, at 10 a.m. in the Kinder Library, 1 p.m. in the Oberlin Library and 3 p.m. in the Oakdale Library.
On Tuesday, June 13, storyteller Sylvia Davis will entertain children with her funny adventure stories at 10 a.m. in the Kinder Library, 1 p.m. in the Oberlin Library and 3 p.m. in the Oakdale Library.
On Tuesday, June 20, Smokey Bear will teach the children about fire safety. He will be in the Kinder Library at 10 a.m., Oberlin Library at 1 p.m. and Oakdale Library at 3 p.m.
On Friday, July 7, Geebo the Clown will entertain children with magic tricks, balloon tricks and more at 11 a.m. in the Oakdale Library, 1 p.m. in the Oberlin Library and 3 p.m. in the Kinder Library.
Closing ceremonies for the summer reading programs will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, in the Oberlin Library. Certificates and prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be served.
