CPSO investigates train accident fatality

On January 21 at approximately 11:00 p.m. the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the train tracks on Highway 3256 in Lake Charles regarding a pedestrian/train accident.

The investigation revealed Damon S. Long, 43, Houma, was laying partially on the tracks.  As the train was backing up, the engineer could not see Long, and he was struck by the back end of the train. Long was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. 

CPSO Forensic Investigation Unit Detective Sgt. Sandra Gibson is the lead investigator of this incident.
