JENNINGS — One person was arrested and charges are pending on a second person in connection with the theft of recreational vehicles from the Lacassine RV Park late last year, authorities said.

Jessica Clanton, 26, of 976 Ranchette Drive in Sulphur, was arrested Monday by Allen Parish sheriff’s deputies on two counts of felony theft and two counts of obstruction of justice for her involvement in the thefts, officials said.

She was taken to the Jeff Davis Parish jail, where she is being held without bond.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office also has a hold on Leward Clement for pending charges in connection with the investigation, officials said.

The investigation began in late December when the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a bumper pull and a fifth-wheel camper being stolen from the RV park. Both campers were recovered in Beauregard Parish.

Detectives received information after the campers were recovered that Clement and Clanton were involved in the thefts, Chief Deputy Chris Ivey said.

Evidence from a traffic stop by Iowa police put them in a stolen truck on Dec. 21, officials said.
