Hobo Hotel for Cats, the only no-kill adoption center and shelter for homeless cats in Lake Charles, recently received a generous bequest from the estate of Elizabeth Richard. This bequest, along with Ms. Richard’s other bequests to other local non-profit organizations, is a wonderful example of how estate planning helps right here at home.

The entirety of Hobo Hotel’s $50,000 bequest will stay here in Southwest Louisiana to care for homeless cats and kittens at our adoption center. Hobo Hotel will use this bequest to fund operating expenses.

We have invested a portion of the bequest in Hobo Hotel’s accounts at the SWLA Community Foundation to help insure the future of cat rescue in our area.

The generosity of our supporters and volunteers during the past 21 years has allowed Hobo Hotel to spay/neuter more than 6,000 cats and kittens and to adopt more than 4,100 cats and kittens into loving homes. We also maintain a trap/neuter/return program that helps control the feral cat population in Southwest Louisiana.

How thoughtful of Ms. Richard to remember Hobo Hotel in her estate planning! Because of the generosity of Ms. Richard and others, Hobo Hotel can continue its dedication to the rescue and adoption of homeless cats and kittens.
