Lacy Anne Boutte
Lacy Anne Boutte, 35, of Lake Charles, died Saturday, Dec. 12, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. Private Celebration of Lacy’s life will be held at a later date under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles.
Elaine Corbello
Elaine Corbello, 83 of Lake Charles, LA was called into her Lord’s loving arms, surrounded by her family on December 12, 2020.
Elaine was one of eleven children, born on July 29, 1937 in Welsh, LA to Lester and Lena Benoit.
As luck would have it, while attending her brother Harold’s wedding, she met the man she would share her life with. Frank politely introduced himself, taken by her beauty and poise, asked her to a dance. She was so impressed with him, that she accepted his request to take her on their first date, to a local dance hall. They would exchange good conversation, dance steps and in April 1953 they exchanged their Vows of Holy Matrimony at Our Lady Seven Dolors Catholic Church.
Together they welcomed two children: Sheryl in 1954 and Glenna in 1956. As a mother, she was dutiful to her faith and family. The doors to their home were warm and welcoming; whether it was the family or friends gathered around her table; she enjoyed conversation and fellowship of each carefully prepared meal. She worked as the Service Desk Supervisor at K-Mart for 28 years. When she was not working, or spending time with her family, you would find her delicately attending to her garden or taking family vacations together. In 1975, with open arms “Maw” welcomed the first of many grandchildren into her life and to fill the spaces around her family dinner table.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents; four siblings, Ethel Ardoin, Inez McGee, Linda Simmons, and Irving Benoit.
Those left to cherish her memory; her husband of 67 years, Frank Corbello, her daughters, Sheryl Corbello and Glenna Cormier; grandchildren, Jenara Anderson, Courtney Williams, Brittani (Stuart) Henderson, Brandon (Michelle) Cormier, Joshua (Amy) Cormier, Andrea Cormier; a niece, Mica (Keith) Reinsch; great grand-children, Ella, Jackson, Madeline, Luke, Samantha, Grant, Dylan, Alex, Tayton, Jaci, and Ty, Bailey, Andee, TJ; siblings, Harold Benoit, Irma Fruge, Renella McCreary, Faye Broussard, Katherine Marcantel, “Butch” Benoit.
The family will welcome friends on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff from 4:30pm to 9pm with a rosary beginning at 6pm. Visitation to resume Thursday at 9am until time of service. A Mass of Christian Burial, led by Father Paul Jessen will be held at Our Lady Good Council Catholic Church beginning at 2pm. She will be laid to rest at Lacassine Catholic Cemetery.

Harry J. “PawPaw” Oliva, 91, of Sulphur, La., passed away Dec. 12, 2020.
Harry was born in Sulphur to Edmonia and Farnest Oliva, on July 20, 1929.
He was a volunteer firefighter for the Sulphur Fire Dept. He worked for W. T. Burton and then Firestone Refinery until his retirement in 1991.
While living in Sulphur, he enjoyed feeding his birds, squirrels and raccoons. It wasn’t unusual to open his curtain at night and see a dozen raccoons sitting on the patio waiting for their dinner at “Harry’s Diner”. They knew he put out the best dog food in town for them. He never turned his back on any person or animal in need. If he only had one penny left in his pocket he would give it away to someone that needed it. Harry always believed that was what God wanted him to do.
In his later years Harry spent his time with his best friend Nola Cole. Together they would pick, cook and can anything and everything they found. Nothing ever went to waste. Thousands of pickles and fig preserves! They kept each other, as well as those around them, laughing. Harry’s children will cherish the memories of him taking them and their friends shrimping and crabbing in his little boat, teaching them how to bowl and talking on his CB to all the truckers passing through Sulphur. He was the best dad around, not only for his natural born children, but his stepchildren as well. Harry was always whistling and smiling while trying to figure out how to improve on a purple Martin house. His love for these birds earned him the name of ‘The Birdman’ in Oberlin, La.. Harry was very caring and giving to both man and animals.
Harry’s whistling, smiles and laughs will be greatly missed by his children Ronald J. Oliva and wife Cynthia of San Antonio, TX, Cynthia A. Wilson and husband Tim of Celina, TX, Connie S.
