Bridge lighting
The Interstate 10 Bridge’s lighting problems will remain for the foreseeable future. At the moment, there is no solution that local and state government officials can agree upon to rectify the situation.
A somber Mayor Randy Roach told the city council that “we don’t have bids and will not soon.” Earlier this month, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development told City Hall that the system chosen to improve lighting on the bridge was not adequate.

The ‘Fourth Reconstruction’
Conservative syndicated columnist Charley Reese addressed Friday’s Gen. R.E. Lee-Gen. T.J. “Stonewall” Jackson banquet of the Capt. J.W. Bryan Camp 1390, Sons of Confederate Veterans.
The “Fourth Reconstruction” involves “making a centralized government non-debatable,” by “obliterating any trace from the public consciousness the memory of an American republic,’ Reese said. He added children are “beaten down,” without any positive role models in both history and in the entertainment industry.”
