Elroy Fontenot was born Aug. 26, 1926, and passed away April 23, 2025, at the age of 98. He proudly served for two years in the United States Navy during WWII. Elroy was employed for 38 years as an Operator for WR Grace. He enjoyed squirrel hunting and gardening. Most of all he loved his family and adored his granddaughter, Ashley Ieyoub.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Fontenot; children, Charlotte Ieyoub and husband, Patrick, Charles “Bo” Bell and wife, Angie, Montina “Tina” Spell and husband, David, Chris Dyson and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Ashley, Bryan, Julia, Brent, Nathan, and Charles; along with numerous great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, LuWilda Patrick Fontenot; parents, Orase and Ava Fontenot; siblings, Thelma Gordon, Dennis Fontenot, and Horace Fontenot.

Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2025 until time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 1810 W Fourth Street, DeQuincy, La. Bro. Scott Streams and Bro. Vance Perkins will officiate. Interment will follow at Mimosa Pines (Garden Of Memories), 568 Belle Moye Road 27 South, Sulphur, La.
