Arrest made in stabbing of man found in field

Lake Charles Police have made an arrest in Tuesday night’s fatal stabbing in a field near the 3700 block of Gerstner Memorial Drive.
Deputy Chief Kevin Kirkum said officers responding to a welfare complaint Tuesday at about 5:40 p.m. found a man lying in a field suffering from what appeared to be a stab wound.
The victim was transported to the hospital, but later succumbed to his injuries.
Kirkum said officers at the scene learned that person who may have been responsible for stabbing the victim was still in the area. That person, identified as 38- year-old Cesar Odulio Chavez-Perez ,was located in the trailer park area and detained.
After further investigation, Kirkum said Chaves-Perez was arrested for second-degree murder.
No bond has been set at this time.
Police are not releasing the name of the victim, pending the location and notification of next of kin.
