Welcome back to first place, Cowgirls.

McNeese is back on top of the Southland Conference softball race thanks to a pair of walk-off routs Tuesday night and a little help from Lamar.

The Cowgirls scored six times in the bottom of the fifth in the opener, and then another three in the same frame in Game 2, McNeese swept Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Cowgirls won 11-3 and 10-2 to improve to 27-17, 13-4, tying them with Southeastern for the league lead. McNeese holds the tiebreaker after winning 2 of 3 in Hammond last week.

Lamar split a pair with the Lions Tuesday, winning 5-3 in the opener before falling 2-1. Corpus fell to 9-28, 3-14.

McNeese junior Jada Munoz drove in the final runs in both games but by very different means.

In the opener at Joe Miller Field, Munoz drove in three runs with her 10th homer of the season to end things. With the bases loaded in the second game, Munoz was hit by a pitch to score the winner.

Munoz finished the day 3-for-5 with the homer, two doubles, and five runs batted in. She finished with a .354 batting average.

Samantha Mundine finished 4-for-6 with three RBIs, while Rylie Bouvier and Reese Reyna each hit home runs. McNeese finished with 24 hits in the two games.

McNeese will look for its fifth straight win and go for the series sweep Wednesday, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
