Donald Clavier

Donald Clavier, 61, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2025, in a local hospice surrounded by his family.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Sulphur. Donald worked construction for many years as a welder in local industry, mainly Westlake Chemical Corporation. He was a very gifted welder who loved instilling his knowledge to others, and was known as “Clav” to his co-workers. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local #13-555. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his motorcycle, and repairing chainsaws. Donald was truly known as jack-of-all-trades, able to build, disassemble and repair anything. He was a very devoted husband, father, Pop-D, brother, and friend, and would often selflessly help anyone in need.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 40 years, Michelle Clavier of Carlyss; his mother, Della Clavier of Sulphur; his daughters, Amanda Clavier Babineaux and husband, Blaine of Lake Charles, and Amie Clavier Daigle and husband, Kane, of Vevay, Ind.; his twin-brother, Ronald Clavier and wife, Beckie of Sulphur; brother, Darrell Clavier and wife, Stephanie of Westlake; his sisters, Janet Clavier Dowden of Carlyss, Myra Clavier Wise and husband, Larry of Sulphur, Vanessa Clavier Landry and husband, Dennis of Sulphur, and Tara Clavier Barnes and husband, Jason of Carlyss, and his two grandchildren, Paris Harper and Ridge Babineaux. He is preceded in death by his father, Anthony Clavier; his son, Aaron Clavier, and his brother-in-law, Ricky Dowden.
A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Pastor Casey Rader and Jason Barnes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Shane Dowden, Blaine Mosley, Lane Clavier, Ty Clavier, William Wise, and Christian Wise. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service Saturday in the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to all of the family members who helped Michelle give Donald the best care as well as those who helped Michelle when she needed help herself; for all of the visits to spend time with Donald; the Heart of Hospice Nurse, Imani Bias; Doctor Fuqua for providing Donald with the best care at home; Harbor Hospice nurses and CNA staff; Dr. Muhammed Khan and Dr. Jason Langhofer for the excellent care, compassion, understanding, and support to Donald and his wife and family. The family is grateful for the Harbor Hospice facility in Lake Charles for being able to provide this level of care for loved ones. Also, to all neighbors, friends, and Donald’s co-workers for over the many years who have brought food, drinks, and household items. To Pastor Casey Rader and wife, Cindy who provided spiritual support and friendship to Donald and Michelle. To The Gathering Church, our church family, for all of the prayers and a love basket with church collection. To Christus Ochsner Lake Area Medical Center, Michelle’s boss, respiratory co-workers/friends, NICU co-workers/friends, and the entire hospital and HR who reached out with prayers and support. A special thanks to our daughter, Amanda Clavier Babineaux for taking care of all of the administrative requirements regarding his care. To Amie Clavier Daigle for helping out for three weeks when her job allowed her to take time to spend with her father, mom, and family. Thank you to Susan and Karl Guidry for taking our family pictures and providing thoughtful memorial gifts that will be cherished forever.
