Though all four proposed constitutional amendments on Saturday’s ballot ultimately failed statewide, voters in Cameron Parish overwhelmingly approved each measure. The amendments were the only items up for vote in the parish.
For constitutional amendment one, which would provide for disciplinary proceedings over attorneys and to create courts of limited jurisdiction, Cameron voters favored the measure 339-212, or by 62 percent.
For amendment two, which would have consolidated reserve funds and capped state spending growth, Cameron voters favored the proposal 343-207, or by 62 percent.
For amendment three, which would have give the Legislature the power to decide if juveniles are to be tried as adults, Cameron voters favored the proposal 293-255, or by 53 percent.
Amendment four would have allowed for the creation of special election dates for newly created judgeships or vacancies in office for judges. Cameron favored the proposal 336-212, or by 61 percent.
