Kenneth Wayne Shipp, 73, of Lakeview, Ark. formerly of Lake Charles, La., passed away peacefully on March 14, 2025. He was born on Oct. 30, 1951, in Lake Charles, La., to James “J.K” and Fannie Catherine Hamilton Shipp. Kenny was a loving husband, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, who touched many lives with his warmth and kindness.
In July 1973, Kenny married the love of his life, Virginia, and together they made their home in Lake Charles, La. He had a long career as a draftsman at Trunkline LNG in Lake Charles until his retirement.
In search of a quieter life, Kenny and Virginia moved to Lakeview, Ark., where they enjoyed their retirement years around fishing and fly tying.
He is survived by his cousin, Suzanne Maki of Sherwood, Ore.; his nephew, Michael Jason Morgan of Nashville, Tenn., and his wife’s brother, Byron “Pat” (Denise) Morgan of Katy, Texas. The family wishes to express appreciation to neighbors, church family, caregiver Bryan, Theresa, and Rachel for their kindness and care. Kenny was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia; parents, J.K. and Catherine Shipp, and brother, Charles Shipp.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Kenneth’s life was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals, with Pastor Jonathan Norvell officiating. Entombment followed at Kirby’s Tucker Memorial Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Arkansas.
