Calcasieu Sheriff’s deputies involved in overnight shooting

Louisiana State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Sunday night on Barn Stable Drive.
Trooper Matt Gaspard said detectives with the Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigations Division were requested by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office to investigate the shooting.
CPSO spokesperson Kayla Vincent said the shooting occurred as deputies were responding to a domestic disturbance just after 8 p.m. at a residence off Barn Stable Drive.
“Upon making contact with the suspect, a deputy-involved shooting occurred,” Vincent said.
She said the suspect was transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated. The deputy was not injured.
“The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time,” she said.
Gaspard said his office was asked by Sheriff Stitch Guillory to handle the investigation at about 10 p.m. Sunday.
“This is an active investigation in its early stages,” he said. “More information will be released as it becomes available.
