Jo Ann Miller, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Jennings Rehabilitation Hospital. She was born on Aug. 19, 1950 in Lake Charles, La. Jo Ann was a graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. She held many titles in her lifetime, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She cherished her time spent with family and friends.
After graduation, Jo Ann attended cosmetology school and worked in the industry for many years. She also sold cars and trucks at Cagle Chevrolet before moving into management in the food industry until retirement. Her career gave her the opportunity to flourish in the community.
Upon her marriage to her husband, Steve, they spent most of their married life in Basile.
Above all, Jo Ann cherished the time spent with family and friends, creating lasting memories that will forever be held dear.
She is survived by her four children, Kevin Hawkins and wife, Angela, of Willis, Texas, Scott Miller and wife, Nikki, of Basile, Troy Miller and his wife, Toni, of Eunice and Ashley Sonnier of Monroe: eight grandchildren, Kaylea Hawkins, Nick Miller, Alexis Miller, Madison Miller, Cain Miller, Callie Miller, Hunter Sonnier, Reid Sonnier and two great-granddaughters, Dani and Andi Andrus. Also left behind to cheerier memory are her brothers, Rickey Lanier and wife, Mary, and Kent Lanier and wife, Lorna, both of Lake Charles and her sister, Joy Ryan and husband, Val, of Henderson, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jo Ann now rests in peace with her husband of 40 years, Wayne Stephen Miller; parents, Lenioux and Laverne Johnson Lanier; granddaughter, Shelby Hawkins and great-granddaughter, Paisley Hawkins.
A graveside service to honor Jo Ann’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at St. Augustine Cemetery, located at 2717 Dr. Bobby Deshotel Avenue in Basile, La. Jo Ann Miller will be remembered for her unwavering love and commitment to those she held close.
The family would like to extend great appreciation and thanks to the staff and residents of Oak Lane Wellness Center in Eunice and Jennings Rehabilitation Hospital of Jennings.
