There is an elevated fire danger risk for Southwest Louisiana this week.

A red flag warning has been issued through 7 p.m. today due to the dry conditions and expected northwest winds up to 12-20 mph.

Today’s highs are expected in the low 60s to near 70.

There is a chance of severe thunderstorms this weekend across most of the area.

An intense upper level disturbance is expected to move out of the Plains and across the region late in the weekend. This system has the potential to bring conditions that would produce severe weather Sunday night with a complex of thunderstorms.
