Betty Wade

Betty Lucille Aycock Wade, 92 died peacefully at her home in Lake Arthur on Tuesday, March 18, 2025. She was born on Dec. 30, 1932, in Laurel, Miss. to parents, William Lee and Daisy Wedgworth Aycock. She graduated from Watkins High School in Laurel, where she met Aubrey Wade. They were married April 2, 1949. They lived several places because of his time in the service and his college football career, settling in Lake Arthur in 1957 as their permanent home.
Betty graduated from McNeese in 1964 with a BA in education, putting herself through school by teaching piano lessons. Her teaching career began in 1964 at Lake Arthur High School (8th grade). She subsequently acquired a Master’s Degree, Plus 30 Degree, and a Specialist Degree. She left the classroom in 1980 to go to the Jefferson Davis Parish School Board as the parish Math Resource Teacher, eventually becoming the Supervisor for K-8. She retired after 30 years. She loved learning and teaching.
Betty lived a life of service to her community. She played the piano/organ for over 40 years her church. She also enjoyed membership in Eastern Star, Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Entre Nous, Library Blub, and Republican Women’s Club. She especially loved her family and was their biggest fan at the many sporting events her husband, children, and grandchildren participated in.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur. A service will be held at 2 p.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 75 plus years, Aubrey S. Wade; son, Steve Wade (Susan) of Madison, Miss.; daughter, Sally Comer (Ken) of Jennings; grandchildren, Stephen (Trey) Wade (Nicole), Ashley Bach (Eric), and Jay Comer, and great-grandchildren, Bella Bach, Meadow Bach, Zyla Comer, Sophia Bach, Jackson Wade, and Tate Comer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Lee and Daisy Aycock; her brother, Herman Aycock, and her sister, Mary Ann Harp.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Wade, Jay Comer, Eric Bach, Sam Lemmon, Byron Hardee, and Darryl Bertrand.
The family would like to thank Byron Hardee, Lamm Hospice, and caregivers, Barbara Granger, Molly Bellon, and Hannah Nolasco.
