McNeese State University’s enrollment for the spring 2025 semester increased by 3.6% over spring 2024.
“Our enrollment news just keeps getting better,” said Wade Rousse, McNeese president of McNeese State University. “For the first time in 15 years our spring enrollment increased 3.6%!”
First-time freshman enrollment is up by 35.2% over the spring of 2024, continuing student enrollment is up by 3.1% and transfer student enrollment is up by 9.9%. Rousse explained that not only are students being persistent and working another semester towards a degree, but new students are also realizing a degree from McNeese can open doors to an amazing career.
The College of Nursing and Health Professions leads the other colleges with a 12% increase, followed by the Burton College of Education with a 4.7% increase.
“We are thrilled to see the excitement on campus and throughout the region,” Rousse said. “We want everyone in Southwest Louisiana to know that an affordable bachelor’s degree is within reach and that your life will be better because of it.”
McNeese continues to be nationally recognized for faculty and student accomplishments, including high passage rates on national licensure exams, acceptance into medical and professional schools and career return on investment.
“We are bucking the nationwide enrollment trends and I truly believe it’s because we have so much to offer students and employers in Southwest Louisiana,” Rousse said. “I’m proud of how our faculty and staff have worked towards this enrollment increase.”
