All Jeff Davis Parish schools will remain closed on Friday due to water problems and road conditions.

“This decision comes with much thought and collaboration with state, parish and local governmental agencies,” Superintendent John Hall said Thursday.

“Due to hazardous road conditions, including obstructed lane markers and roads, frozen water lines, the high number of broken pipes, frozen parking lots and walkways, low/no water pressure, uncertain sanitary conditions of restrooms and the countless other uncertainties, we have decided out of safety for our stakeholders that we cancel school on Friday,” Hall said.

As of 3 p.m. Thursday, many school campuses were still without water due to frozen pipes, he said.
