Shirley Mae Comeaux Miller, born in Bell City on May 1, 1937, daughter of the late John Milton and Thelma Istre Comeaux, passed away in a local care facility Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2025, at age 87.
A graduate of Bell City High School, Shirley was a faithful member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine, where she served on the Catholic Daughters Court Santa Maria, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She provided a warm and loving home to her family, enjoyed quilting, cooking and baking.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Miller; parents; sisters, Nell Reed, Deanna Felice, and Ruth Fontenot; brother, Donald Comeaux, and son-in-law, Billy Precht Jr.
Survivors are her children, David Miller (Jodi), Roderick Miller (Sherrie), Carolyn Fontenot (David), and Debora Precht; siblings, Rodney Comeaux, Daniel Comeaux, Herbert Comeaux, Brenda Vanicor, Kathy Geiger, and Jacinta Comeaux; grandchildren, Matt Fontenot (Danielle), Ryan Fontenot (Wendy), and Kane Fontenot (Hannah), Lauren Thompson (Andrew), William Precht III, (Adelyn); Dr. Jenny Miller Marsh (Ritchie) and Amber Viator; great-grandchildren, Madison and Aiden Fontenot, Nolan Fontenot, Hayden and Nora Thompson, and expecting Abigail Fontenot in May.
Services will be held in Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025 at 2 p.m. The Rev. Roland Vaughn, Celebrant. A gathering of friends will begin in the funeral home at 10 a.m., with a rosary recited at 1:30 p.m. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa.
