An investigation is underway after a Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured late Friday in an officer-involved shooting near Welsh.

The injured deputy was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Troop D Public Affairs Trooper Matthew Gaspard.

One person was taken into custody late Friday, Gaspard said.

The Louisiana State Police Criminal Investigation Division was called to investigate the shooting which occurred  around 9 p.m. Friday near the intersection of La. 99 and La. 102.

The investigation is continuing and details are limited as investigators work to gather more information and process the scene.
