Joseph “Bob” Robert Stetz

Joseph “Bob” Robert Stetz, 85, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024, in a Baton Rouge hospital.
He was a native of Reynoldsville, Pa. and had been a resident of Sulphur for the last 67 years. He was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. Bob worked for many years as a Grain Inspector with the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement in 1991 after 28 years of service. He enjoyed wood working, mowing his lawn, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 67 years, Carol Stetz of Carlyss; his children, William “Bill” Stetz and wife, Hilda, of Carlyss, Robert “Chris” Stetz and wife, Angela, of Sulphur, Shari Stetz (Chad) of Sulphur, and Bryan Stetz and wife, Donna, of Choupique; his brother, Gary Stetz and wife, Alexis, of Dubois, Pa.; 13 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret Stetz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 12 in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Carlyss. The Rev. Sibi Kunninu, M.S. will officiate. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss under the direction of Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary service at 6 p.m. and will resume at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
