Angele Elizabeth Waldmeier Boyett, age 61. Passed on 11/28/2024.
Born on March 23, 1963. Born in Lake Charles, La. and lived for the past five years in Iowa, La.
Angele graduated Valedictorian from St. Louis High School in 1981. She was a cheerleader at St. Louis and became the head cheerleader her senior year. She went on to graduate from McNeese State University, Cum Lauda with degrees in English and Math. Following in her mom’s footsteps, she started her teaching career, first at St. Margarets and then St. Louis Hight School. She taught in the same classroom that her mom did at St. Louis. After about 15 years she left teaching and started her own tutoring business which was very successful for many years. She then went on to work several other jobs that she enjoyed and made many friends.
Angele was the epitome of the nickname “river rat.” Ever since she was very young, she loved to be on the river. Her parents had a camp on the Ouiska “Whiskey” Chitto. Her family would always spend Easter at the camp. Dozens of eggs would be dyed and the Easter Bunny always managed to find his way to the camp, leaving many, many Easter baskets full of treats. She loved to be outdoors. We traveled and camped in an RV for many, many years. We eventually sold the RV and built a camp on the north Calcasieu River. The camp was her happy place. She could spend weeks at the camp and could sit on the sand bar for hours. She liked working in the yard, whether attending flower gardens, enhancing the yard with architectural elements, or weed whacking (yes, she was a weed eatn’ fool). She enjoyed canoeing and fishing. Often, she would out fished me – if you could have only seen her excitement when she caught a fish, small or large. I took the fish she caught off the hook for her; this gave me great pleasure; I was helping the person I loved. We both enjoyed how beautiful the fish were, especially the perch. In later years, we practiced catch and release, the joy was in catching the fish.
She very much enjoyed the holidays. She always decorated the house for the occasion. As much as she loved Christmas, I believe her favorite holiday may have been Halloween. She would always dress for the occasion. She loved to meet the kids during Trick or Treat, not only did the kids get a treat, but they also heard adoring words from Angele.
Angele was preceded in death by her parents, Robert “Bob” Waldmeier and Dorothy “Dot” Tharp Waldmeier; Dot’s siblings, Richard Tharp and Dixie Lovett; her brothers, Andy Waldmeier, Keith Waldmeier, Kent Waldmeier and nephew, Josh Waldmeier. She is survived by her husband, Bill Boyett; daughter, Brittany Boyett and husband, Ben Laurence; her brother, Lance Waldmeier and wife, Valerie; sisters-in-law, Laura Jane, Mary and Debbie. Too many nieces and nephews to name; she loved them all. And her very best friend since 1st grade, Karen Conner Hyatt.
