It’s Giving Tuesday: Make it feel like Christmas (and not just for the kids)

Ignite the true spirit of Christmas by helping others who need it most — and children in particular this holiday season. It’s not too late. In fact, the timing is perfect because today is Giving Tuesday.

Adopt an “angel” by Dec. 7. New Salvation Army Majors have encountered more need in Lake Charles this year than ever before for all their programs, putting men and women to work by teaching interview skills, housing the homeless, collecting food for the homeless, meal preparation at the shelter and preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ while meeting human needs without discrimination while doing it.

The Angel Tree program – which helps children of parents not able to provide a few toys and clothing for their children at Christmas – has more than doubled in size this year. Plus, for the first time ever, this list includes forgotten seniors.

To have fun purchasing something on a little angel’s list, be an angel and go online to the Salvation Army’s website. Or, go to the Walmart on Nelson Road, Martin Luther King Highway/Gerstner Memorial or Sam’s Club to “adopt an angel.” Find the Angel Tree. Pick an angel from the tree. Follow instructions.

And remember, to start with a cheerful heart, and let the folks at the Salvation Army know if the Angel Tree program makes the holidays even cheerier.
