Shelby Jerome Wilson Jr., lovingly known as Baby Shel, was called home to be with the Lord on Nov. 16, 2024. Born on Sept. 17, 1963, in Lake Charles, La., Shelby lived a life of faith and love for his family.
Shleby grew up as a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, and in later years, he worshipped at St. Henry Catholic Church, continuing his walk with God.
A proud graduate of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School and Lake Charles High School, Shleby excelled as a student athlete, lettering in football and making lifelong memories with his teammates. He went on to earn a bachelor of Arts degree from Southern Universtiy of Louisiana.
Shelby began his career in the hospitality industry, where he worked in hotels across New Orleans and Lake Charles, sharing his warm personality and love for people. In his latter years, he transitioned into construction and industrial work.
Shelby’s life was marked by his love for his family and his unwavering faith. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Wilson, and leaves to cherish his memory is his father, Shelby Wilson Sr., and his daughter, Jada Wilson, who he affectionately referred to as “the greatest thing he ever did.”
Shelby’s journey here on earth is complete, but his legacy of love, faith, and perserverence lives on in those who knew and loved him. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with his Heavenly Father.
A celebration of Shelby’s life will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Cathloic Church in Lake Chalres, La. on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Semien-Lewis Mortuary.
