Beauregard, Vernon voters favor Trump

Voters in Beauregard and Vernon parishes favored former President Donald Trump as the next person to lead the country.
Trump received 13,504 votes, or 85 percent, over Vice President Kamala Harris, who received 2,192 votes, or 14 percent, in Beauregard Parish. In Vernon, Trump garnered 13,474 votes, or 83 percent of the vote, over Harris’ 2,513 votes, or 16 percent.
Beauregard voters also favored U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson in his re-election bid. Johnson, a Republican, received 13,197 votes, or 88 percent. In Vernon, that number was similar. He garnered 13,474 votes, or 83 percent.
Beauregard voters were split on who they preferred as the next member of the Louisiana 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal for the 2nd District. Judge Clayton Davis received 7,426, or 50 percent, to Judge Anthony Eaves’s 7,401 votes, or 50 percent. In Vernon, Eaves received 10,064 votes, or 67 percent, while Davis received 4,959, or 33 percent.
Both parishes approved a proposed constitutional amendment to expand the dedication for the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund. Beauregard voters said “yes” with 9,955 votes, or 66 percent. Vernon voters said “yes” with 9,465 votes, or 63 percent.
