Bowers elected newest member of Calcasieu Police Jury

Republican Mitchell Keith Bowers has been elected the newest member of the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury.
Bowers, who will represent District 15, received 3,136 votes, or 56 percent, over Republican Mandy Thomas, who received 2,508 votes, or 44 percent.
The Calcasieu Parish Police Jury previously appointed Brent Clement as interim District 15 Police Juror at a May 20 special meeting after the unexpected passing of Tony Tramonte, 54, on April 29.
Also in Calcasieu, voters favored former president Donald Trump to lead the nation. Trump received 56,046 votes, or 69 percent, over Vice President Kamala Harris who received 23,911 votes, or 29 percent.
Calcasieu also supported U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson and U.S. Congress Clay Higgins in their re-election campaigns. Johnson received 28,379 votes, or 88 percent. Higgins received 26,219 votes, or 88 percent.
Calcasieu also favored Judge Clayton Davis in his bid for the 2nd District of the Louisiana 3rd Circuit Court of Appeal. Davis received 42,294, or 69 percent, over Anthony Eaves who received 18,696 votes, or 31 percent.
A proposed constitutional amendment on statewide ballots was also overwhelmingly favored in Calcasieu. The measure was approved 56,981, or by 74 percent.
