An overwhelming number of Louisiana voters approved the one constitutional amendment that appeared on Tuesday’s ballot throughout the state.

The amendment will expand the dedication for the Coastal Protection and Restoration Fund, funneling future funding from offshore alternative energy production into the pool of dollars.

The trust fund was created in 1989 under the name the Wetlands Conservation and Restoration Fund to become the primary source of financing for projects and efforts in the Coastal Master Plan — the playbook created by the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority to address coastal loss and improve hurricane resilience.
