Joseph Wilman Olivier Sr., age 98, of Westlake, La. passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024. Joseph was born on Sunday, March 7, 1926 to Thelogene Olivier and Laurance Godeaux Olivier.

Joseph was a proud World War II Navy Veteran and retired truck driver. Earlier in life he was a painter, maintenance worker, and whatever necessary to support his growing family.

He was married to Margaret Bougeois Olivier for 75 years before her passing on July 30, 2021. Together they raised a family of 11 children.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Bourgeois Olivier, his parents, four brothers, 10 sisters, five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Joseph Wilman Jr. (Vicki) of Texas, James Olivier (Diane) of Westlake, Dale Olivier (Christie) of Westlake, Greg Olivier of DeRidder, Tim Olivier of Westlake, Cynthia Parker (Jimmy) of Topsy, David Olivier (Monica) of Moss Bluff, Chris Olivier of Westlake, Julie Hicks of Westlake, Beverly Lantz (Greg) of Moss Bluff, and Wayne Olivier (Lisa) of Westlake; 28 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren, 14 great great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024 at Hixson Funeral Home of Westlake with a Rosary beginning at 5 p.m. Visitation will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday until the time of services at the funeral home.

A Scripture Service will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday with Deacon Fred Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery of Westlake. Joseph’s family would like to say a special thank you to all of the staff at Harbor Hospice for their excellent care during this difficult time.
