A 13-year-old student — the third in 13 days — has been arrested at Moss Bluff Middle and charged with terrorizing.
Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Kayla Vincent said the boy made a threat on Wednesday to bring a gun to the school. He was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terrorizing-menacing.
On Tuesday, another 13-year-old threatened to bring a gun to school.
“It was also learned the boy made the threat while at school to multiple students,” Vincent told the American Press on Tuesday. “After further investigation, he was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with terrorizing-menacing.
A third 13-year-old Moss Bluff Middle student was charged with terrorizing on Sept. 28. In that case, Vincent said the teenager made threats to “be the next school shooter.”
Sheriff Stitch Guillory said the safety of students and schools within Calcasieu Parish remains his office’s top priority.
“CPSO and CPSB have been doing everything within our power to maintain a secure and supportive environment for our students,” Guillory said. “Unfortunately, some individuals have chosen to disrupt that peace through irresponsible actions.”
Guillory urges parents to have open conversations with their children about the consequences of making threats.
The sheriff’s office will continue to work closely with the school board to ensure these threats are addressed quickly and appropriately,” he said.
