Melissa Lee Currie, 33, of Sulphur, La. died on Sept. 30, 2024, in her residence. She was born on Nov. 2, 1990, in Austin, Texas to Douglas Cummings and Glenda Denison. She will always be known for her old soul that lived in the moment. She loved her family dearly and was a thrill seeker and will always be remembered for her quirkiness ways. Melissa was the epitome of dynamite comes in small packages. Being best described as “She never drove slow, but she was never on time.” She was a graduate of Sabine Pass high school where she was raised. She lived in Sulphur the past 11 years.
Survivors include husband of 11 years John Currie of Sulphur, La.; three children, Kadyn Henry Duque, Kameron Lee Cummings, Kason Thomas Currie; three step-children, Cameron Scott Currie, Sarah Elizabeth Currie, and Emily Ann Currie; mother, Glenda Denison; siblings, Jennifer Ann Blood (Ethan), Michelle Leystra (Tommy) Jason Cummings (Courtney), and Jamie Cummings; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Charlotte and Larry Currie.
Preceded in death by her sister, Maria Chancelor; father, Douglas Cummings; step-father, Daniel Denison.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday Oct. 9, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur. Visitation will resume on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until time of services at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur.
