Tropical Depression 14 has formed in the western Gulf of Mexico.
National Weather Service Lake Charles Meteorologist Andrew Tingler said no tropical impacts are expected for Southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas outside of rougher-than-normal surf along the coast.
Tingler said the system is expected to strengthen into a hurricane and move toward Florida through mid week.
Both Hurricanes Kirk and Leslie in the open Atlantic pose no threat to the Gulf of Mexico, he said.
