A 15-year-old female Iowa High School student was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center after she posted a school shooting threat on social media.
At about 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call about the social media threat towards Iowa High, CPSO said in a statement. After identifying the student as a suspect, detectives spoke with her.
At about 1 a.m. Friday morning, she was arrested, booked and charged with terrorizing.
The Calcasieu Parish School Board assisted CPSO with the investigation. In a statement, CPSB said the threat was “thoroughly investigated” by the school board and CPSO.
“We want to assure you that this situation has been taken very seriously, as we appreciate our families who reported this posting to school staff and law enforcement. The safety of faculty, staff and students will always be our priority.”
CPSB said there will be extra law enforcement on Iowa campuses as a precaution.
