Rodney Joseph Richard, 84, of Sulphur, La. passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 at his residence. He was born to his late parents, Valery and Edna Richard on Aug. 13, 1940 in Rayne, La. He was employed by Firestone where he was a Superintendent. Rodney was a devoted husband and father. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Richard; one daughter, Shelly Woods Richard of Lake Charles; along with his two sisters, Yvette Gleghorn of Sugarland, Texas and Margie Lantz (Donald) of Bayou Vista, La. 

Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Rita Melancon. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Sulphur on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at 1 p.m., with the Very Rev. Edward J. Richard, M.S., V.F. officiating. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church Hall on Saturday, beginning at 10:30 a.m., followed by a Rosary at 12 p.m., followed by the Mass in the Church at 1 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
