Judith ”Judy” Killian Portie

Judith “Judy” Killian Portie, 77, of Sulphur, passed away on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2024. She was born in Orange, Texas on June 2, 1947 to Herbert Sr. and Jessie Killian. Judy was the founder and owner of Hometown Furniture. She enjoyed having people over by the pool, margaritas with friends at Casa Manana, live music and playing board games, especially Scrabble and Rummy. Most of all she enjoyed spending time surrounded by her grandchildren and loved ones.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Kevin Portie, and Keith Portie; two daughters, Stephanie Dawn Binion-Knauf and Suzanne Portie, all of Sulphur; sisters, Becky Vanicor of Sulphur, and Debbie Walmsley and husband, Bob of Woodville, Texas; brother, Paul Killian of Burkeville, Texas; grandchildren, Adrienne Broussard, Leighton Eloi, Gage Eloi, Slade Eloi, Christopher Portie, Elizabeth Portie, Madelyn Portie, Mia Portie, Nyx Portie and Jordan Fregia, Brooklyn Crochet; and seven great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, James Kent Portie; parents, Herbert Sr. and Jessie Killian; one sister and four brothers.
A Celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home. Jody Tyler will officiate. Visitation will be at Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024, from 5 to 8 p.m. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Thursday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines North Cemetery in Sulphur.
