Cowboys to have fresh look in opener

The Cowboys will have a new look when they open the new season Saturday.
For the first time in program history, McNeese State will wear all-white uniforms when they travel to Stephenville, Texas, for the season opener against Tarleton State.
That will include white helmets as well.
It will culminate an idea that began almost a year ago.
“We thought about this last season but we never did it,” said McNeese head coach Gary Goff. “The timing seems right now.”
The uniforms were unveiled during a team meeting Tuesday. In his first year with the Cowboys, cornerback coach Jordan Lee was chosen to be the model of the fresh look.
Lee rushed in from a side door fully dressed in the game jersey to the thrill of the players.
McNeese Athletics released a video showing the players’ reactions to Lee’s entry.
“It was a huge hit,” said Goff. “The players got really excited and were fired up. We had a great practice Wednesday even.”
The white uniforms could be a plus for McNeese, as the temperature at the time of the 2:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN2 is predicted to be approaching 100 degrees. The Texans elected to dress in all purple.
“It can’t hurt,” said Goff. “We have prepared for the heat so we will be ready.”
The game will be the first of the season kicked off on American soil, meaning the Cowboys will be seen by football fans across the land wearing their dress whites.
