John “Pawpaw” A. Landry

John A. Landry, age 87, of Lake Charles, La. passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was born in Lake Charles, La. to parents Robert and Erie Landry on Aug. 2, 1936.
At the age of 22 in 1959, John was drafted into the United States Army, where he served honorably until 1961.
John was an avid duck hunter, and enjoyed raising game birds. He was apart of the Louisiana High School Officials Association as football referee. John retired from Gulf States utilities as Project Maintenance Supervisor.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sondra Landry, and his parents, Robert and Erie Landry; his brothers and sisters, Hubert Landry, Bobby Landry, AJ Landry, Frances Raley, Marie Reeves, Germaine Winn, Wana Duffy.
Those left to cherish his memories include his three children, John Mitchell Landry, Michael John Landry, and Mona Lee Smith, all of Lake Charles, La.; his five grandchildren, Joshua Smith, Alexandra Smith, Landon Smith, Serena Leday, and Leann Landry, as well as, three great-grandchildren.
The family will welcome the public for visitation at J. E. Hixson & Sons Funeral Home Wednesday, July 31, 2024 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a rosary held at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Thursday, Aug. 1, 2024 at 9 a.m. until 10:40 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Consolata Cemetery.
Pallbearers for services are Joshua Smith, Landon Smith, Desean Smith, Greg Raley, Gene Duffy, and Van Landry.
