Glen Ray McGee was born April 8, 1945, in Lake Charles, La., to Cleve and Gladys (Arabie) McGee.  He was the oldest boy, with two brothers and three sisters; they were raised on the bayou, where he enjoyed playing, hunting and fishing.  He made his choice to serve the Lord in his youth and remained true to that vow, loving to spend time alone with God and in fellowship with others of like faith. 

Glen moved to Dallas after high school and was drafted into the Army in 1966.  He served two years and was a medic posted to Wertheim, Germany.  Upon discharge, he began his 30-year career as an industrial electrician.  

In 1973, he married Peggy Ann Faith in Round Rock, Texas.  They settled in Orange, Texas, and had an open home for fellowship for many years.  Their son, Aaron was born in 1981, bringing more joy into their lives.  After Aaron finished high school, Glen and Peggy moved to Round Rock to help her parents, and then later to DFW to be near Aaron’s family.  

He enjoyed fishing, shrimping, mowing grass, playing games, and spending time with family and friends.  Everyone loved when he would make gumbo, fried shrimp, or fig preserves.  He also taught himself piano and often played the hymns that helped to settle him and feed his heart.  

Glen passed away on July 10, 2024, in Midlothian, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother; Joseph, and sisters; Peggie Jones, Leona Peterson, and Joy Penland.  He is survived by Peggy, Aaron (Laura) and grandchildren, Declan and Norah of Midlothian, and his brother, Curtis (Phebe) McGee of Acworth, Ga.  

Services for Glen will be held at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home on Saturday, July 20. A visitation will take place at 12 p.m., with the service to follow at 1 p.m.  The committal service will be held at the adjoining Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery following the service.
