Donald Raymond Lejeune

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 11 a.m., at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings, La. for Donald Raymond LeJeune, 88, who passed away on July 7, 2024.

The Rev. Pat Deshotel will be officiating the service.

The family is requesting visiting hours to be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 6 p.m. Visitation will resume Friday, July 12, 2024, 8 a.m. until time of service.

Interment will be in the Southwest Veterans Cemetery.

Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him. Donald had a love for French music, he played the steel guitar for over 50 years. He was inducted into the Cajun Music Hall of Fame in 2022. He enjoyed playing for benefits, nursing homes, or any community event. He also enjoyed gardening. Donald was a proud Navy veteran who served his country from 1954 to 1958. Donald worked in finance for most of his life. He worked at Cajun Credit for over 25 years, Southwest Loan Company for 18 years and Acceptance Finance for seven years.

Donald is survived by his wife of 22 years, Wilma Jean LeJeune; three sons, Barry “Timmy” LeJeune (Cindy), Mark LeJeune (Syd), Don LeJeune (Heather); daughters, Vanessa Lee (Craig), Julie LeJeune; stepdaughters, Julie Annette Patterson (Danny); one brother, Leward LeJeune; three sisters, Joyce Pousson, Glenda Vincent and, Lenora Meaux; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Malena Crochet LeJeune; three brothers, Willard LeJeune, Meldon LeJeune, and Murry LeJeune; four sisters, Rena Pousson, Isavern Kistler, Edna Pousson, Earlena Ackory, and one granddaughter, Samantha LeDoux.

The pallbearers trusted to carrying Mr. Donald to his finally resting place are Wade Thibeaux, Logan Ledoux, Ryan Lejeune, Mark Lejeune, Don Lejeune, and Zack Lejeune.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home of Jennings, 511 N. Cutting Avenue Jennings, LA 70546.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Lewis for his caring for Mr. Donald, his children are incredibly grateful for the years and care given to their father from Dr. Lewis. The family also wishes a very special thank you to the St. Joseph Hospice of Lake Charles nurses and home care staff for all they have done for their dad.
