Willard “David” Owen, 74, of Sulphur, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Arkansas and left as a teen to move to Louisiana. He met the love of his life there and started a family. David made his career in the local industries as an industrial salesman and retired in 2003. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and loved being outdoors. David fell in love with Louisiana cuisine and enjoyed making beef jerky and smoking his own sausage.
Those left to cherish David’s memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Gloria Owen; son, David Wayne Owen (Marcella); daughters, Kathleen Dawn Landry (Justin), Laura Diane Bergeron (Michael); grandson, Stephen Owen; granddaughters, Ashley Darbonne (Dustin), Makayla and Lillian Bergeron; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Wayne, Jessie Ann-Marie Darbonne, and Jemma Paige Darbonne expected to arrive in August.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Lindsey Poe and Clarice Langston Owen; brother, Bill Owen; sisters, Kate Vander Hey, Betty Pate, Ann Doucet, Lindsey Clement, Wanda Rivero, and his beloved dog, Duchess.
The Family would like to thank Dr. Jody George and staff, Elliot Reeves, and Harbor Hospice and staff for their thoughtful care and consideration during this trying time.
A Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 28, 2024, at Our Lady of LaSalette. The family will receive guests on Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday. Visitation will resume on Friday morning at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 8 a.m. until time to process to the Church. Words of comfort for the family may be left at www.robisonfuneralhome.com.
