Donald Edward Roy

Donald Edward Roy, 86, of Lake Charles, passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 23, 2024. Donald was born in Eunice, La. on Dec. 14, 1937, to Louis Sr. and Alma Roy. He was a lifelong resident of Southwest Louisiana and enjoyed everything that Cajun life had to offer. He was proud to serve his country as a member of the U.S. Navy.
He was beloved by family and friends for his hospitality, his joy of cooking and making lasting memories. He was a proud “do it yourself” enthusiast with home building and repairs, and was mechanically inclined to fix anything with a problem. He was an adventurous traveler as part of his early days in the Navy, and desire for traveling was carried over throughout his entire life where he enjoyed vacationing with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Kerr Roy; children, Terry Roy, Mark Roy (Carie), Julie Davidson, Chuck McCauley (Anne), Becky Jones (Robert), Tracy Leger (Carroll), Lisa Broussard (Ronald); sisters, Carol Hannah, Geraldine Deshotel; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Louis Roy Jr.; sister, Theresa Jones; son, Greg Roy and grandson, Chase Griffith.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6 p.m., at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA 70605. Visitation will continue Friday, at 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Margaret Catholic Church, 2500 Enterprise Blvd. Lake Charles, LA 70601. Burial will follow the Mass at Consolata Cemetery.
