Dale Elton Collins

Dale Collins, 92, passed away on Monday, June 17, 2024 in a local care center.
He was a native of Algona, Iowa and had been a resident of Sulphur since 1955 coming from Fort Benning, Ga., where he was stationed. Dale was a member of Henning Memorial United Methodist Church, was a member of the church choir, and also sang in the Agin’ Cajuns Choir. He proudly served as a U.S. Army veteran. He loved watching old westerns and reading, especially Louis L’Amour novels. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Survivors include his children, Kathy Webb and husband, Russell, Karen Shull and husband, Derwin, David Collins and wife, Terry, all of Sulphur, and Charles Collins and wife, Kim of Denton, Texas; eight grandchildren, Jessica Stevison, Kara Babaz, Cameron Shull, Dustin Collins, James Collins, Christine Watzlavik, Ashley Carter, and Miles Collins; and 13 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Morman Collins; his sister, Carol Hutzell; a grandson, Jason Webb, and a great-grandson, Stone Watzlavik.
A Celebration of Dale’s Life will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, in Hixson-Sulphur Memorial Funeral Home led by Hixson’s Celebrant, Jody Tyler. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South in Carlyss. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service Friday in the funeral home.
