Authorities are trying to identify a man whose decomposing remains were found Wednesday in a backyard shed at a residence in the 600 block of Second Street.

Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes said the unidentified male was found in an outside shed after police received a call about an unresponsive subject in the shed behind the residence.

“When officers arrived it was obvious that the subject had been deceased for some time,” Semmes said.

Jennings police are working with forensic investigators from the Calcasieu Coroner’s Office to attempt to identify the remains and determine a cause of death.

“All we know is that the subject was found in the shed,” Semmes said Thursday. “We don’t know the ID of that person.”

No identification was found on the man.

Investigators say the man may have been deceased for three to five days due to the advanced decomposition of the remains.
