He married the love of his life, Patrica Davidson, and together they raised their family in Vinton, La., until 1987 when they moved to Sulphur.
Maurice graduated from DeQuincy High School excelling in high school sports. He played college basketball at McNeese State University and then transferred to Louisiana College.
Maurice had a passion for education and began his career at DeQuincy Middle School before accepting a position at Vinton High School as an Assistant Football Coach and Head Basketball Coach, and taught Algebra as well. Advancing in his career, he became Assistant Principal, then Principal, and subsequently finished his career as Associate Superintendent of Auxiliary Services at Calcasieu Parish School Board. He genuinely loved his job and the people he met along the way.
Maurice treasured spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren watching them play sports, especially basketball. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, and golf, and was an avid fan of LSU, Houston Astros, Vinton Lions, and the Sulphur Tor and Lady Tor Basketball teams. With his love of sports came some friendly banter with his brother, Jay Mueschke, between LSU vs Texas A&M and McNeese vs. USL (which was not to be confused with ULL). He also had a fondness for the outdoors, enjoying spending his time fishing, crabbing, canoeing, and camping.
Maurice was a faithful and active member of Vinton Methodist and Henning United Methodist, raising his family to love the Lord. He held many leadership roles in both churches throughout his adult life, enjoying the fellowship of the church and learning of God’s Love.
