Amos James “Jimmy” Broussard, 76, of Lake Charles, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at a local hospice facility. Jimmy was a native and lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He was born Oct. 28, 1947, to Loveless and Laura Broussard. He attended Lake Charles High School through his senior year then attended and graduated from LaGrange High School.
After high school he served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Canberra during the Vietnam War. Jimmy became an electrician and worked in the Lake Charles area and retired from Citcon after working there for 33 years.
Jimmy loved everything outdoors. He was truly an “outdoorsy” kind of guy. He loved spending his free time hunting, fishing, boating and golfing. If there was something fun to do outside Jimmy was going to try it. Jimmy made friends everywhere he went and will be remembered for his outgoing fun-loving personality. Although he enjoyed the friendship of many people, he really enjoyed the guys in his afternoon “bar buddies” group.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years, Deborah Broussard; daughter, Ashley Broussard; step-children, Ryan Landry, and Robin Landry; grandchildren, Blake Broussard, Joshua Landry, Jade Neel, Raegen Landry and Russell Landry; siblings, Charlie Broussard, Tina Broussard, Theresa Clement, Amanda Rogers, Anna Pierre; numerous nieces and nephews, and his fur baby, Honey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Allison Ann Broussard; sister, Vikki Storey and brother, Paul Broussard.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be Wednesday, May 15, 2024, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 6 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, 4321 Lake St. Lake Charles, LA 70605. The family has entrusted cremation arrangements to Johnson Funeral Home following the visitation.
