McNeese State added a kicker to its football roster over the weekend.
Tyler Larco became the 14th player from an FBS program to join the Cowboys this offseason. That is the second-most in FCS, just two behind leader Tennessee-Martin.
Ironically, Larco played his first three years at Tennessee-Martin before moving over to Arkansas last season.
Getting a new kicker became a must when two-year starter Garrison Smith entered the transfer portal in January.
During his time at UTM, he was a six-time Specialist of the Week in the Ohio Valley Conference, twice in his last year of 2022. He was a second-team All-OVC after making 9 of 13 field goals and 42 of 43 extra points.
He also booted 48 punts with an average of 43.6 yards, good for eighth nationally on the FCS level. He had a season-long 36-yard field goal and 75-yard punt.
Larco placed 15 punts inside the opponents’ 20-yard line while also serving as the team’s kickoff specialist.
For his career, Larco is 26 of 40 on field goals with a long of 47 yards. He is also 66 of 69 on extra points.
