The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, in cooperation with Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital and Louisiana State Police Troop D, will provide free child passenger safety seat checks in Lake Charles on Saturday.  

The event will take place in conjunction with the Children’s Miracle Network Family Day and NICU Reunion at Christus Ochsner Lake Area Hospital located at 4200 Nelson Road from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.    Nationally certified child passenger safety technicians will conduct free inspections and assist with proper installation of child safety seats.

Child safety seats and booster seats, when used properly, save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates child restraints have saved the lives of over 11,000 children under the age of five have since 1975. It is important caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt – every trip, every time.

The Louisiana Highway Safety Commission has provided support for this event.
