Albert Joseph “Joe” Downs, 78, of Sulphur, La. passed away on Sunday, April 14,2024 surrounded by his loved ones. 

Joe worked in the construction industry where he was self employed for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in the great outdoors. Joe loved people and he never met a stranger. Joe enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. 

Those left to cherish Joe’s memory are his loving wife of 59 years, JoAnn Lognion Downs; children, Tina Chaisson (Daniel), Kevin Downs (Shelley), Bill Downs (Shelley); seven grandchildren, nine great- grandchildren, with one on the way.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents Rufus and Francis Downs; daughter-in-law, Angela Downs; brothers, Mark Carl Downs Sr., Norris Willis Downs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of LaSalette Catholic Church of Sulphur on Wednesday, April 17,2024 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss, Father John Welch to officiate. The family will receive guests on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 10 a.m. until the time to leave for Mass.
